We grow and export the passion fruit, also called granadilla or maracuyá (P. edulis).

Baobantu passion fruits

Passion Fruits are consumed both pulp and seeds and can be juiced or eaten raw. It’s purple in color when ripe and juicy and tasty.

The fruit of a climbing vine belonging to the Passifloraceae family. The crop grows all year round in various parts of Kenya. The purple passion is mainly used for consumption unlike other varieties such as the yellow passion that is used for industrial juice processing. This kind of passion fruit is rich in vitamin A and C, it also contains potassium, phosphorus, iron, and folate.

The fruits are grown with well-decomposed manure and in soils well-drained with a PH of 5.5 -7.0. After transplanting the grafted purple passion takes 7-11 months to mature and bear fruits. Fruits ripen 2 months after flowering, grafted fruits are preferred since they take less time to mature and are more resistant to diseases.
